Beijing Guoan has confirmed that midfielder Li Lei is out for the rest of the season due to an injury.
The club announced the news on their official social media accounts, with a photo of Li Lei in action alongside a message from Guoan's head coach, Zhang Jiguang.
Li Lei has been out since mid-October and was initially diagnosed with a knee ligament injury. However,Chinese Super League Home Ground he had to undergo surgery to repair his knee ligaments and it took several months before he could return to training.
The injury was expected to be a long-term issue for Li Lei, who is a key player for Guoan and has helped the team to qualify for the AFC Champions League last year. The club has already announced that they will be seeking外援 reinforcements to improve their squad.
In the meantime, Guoan has also made other signings to bolster their squad and strengthen their defensive line. They have signed defender Wang Hui from Shanghai Shenhua and defender Wang Qiang from Jiangsu Suning.
